Dialog

Idle Dialog

Ulewinna says, "What an exquisitely short half-life the mana has once encased in pyreal...almost as if it was intended to serve as an efficient energy source..."

Ulewinna says, "Rimgar! Can you not see that the refiner is already overheating from the pyreal you are haphazardly feeding it? At this rate, you will add another pair to the two machines you have destroyed this week!"

Ulewinna says, "Sora, come close for a moment. Take my lens - can you see how the mana bubbles beneath the pyreal surface in the refined state? If we move more quickly after purification, we just might be able to capture the flue gases before they mix and weaken with the surrounding atmosphere..."
Opening Dialog

Ulewinna tells you, "Please move aside, I have experiments to finish."
Opening Dialog after completing "To Seek Hearth" quest

Ulewinna tells you, “One moment… Let me finish entering these notes. Actually, make yourself useful and hold this flask perpendicular to my light source and...What’s that? You have found a Platinum letter? Oh how exciting! Let me be the first to welcome you to our noble menagerie, seeker. I am Ulewinna, Head Arcanum Researcher for the Hearthseekers.”

Ulewinna tells you, "As I am sure Ma’whar informed you, we are currently investigating mana fields from three recently discovered “sibling” leylines. The data is still quite preliminary, especially since we have yet to finish constructing the necessary advance camps at the two most recently discovered leylines. Nonetheless, it is quite remarkable how much these leylines appear to truly act as siblings. Fluctuations in the mana fields of one leyline are almost perfect reflections of the activities of two others; as one field weakens the other two grow stronger.”

Ulewinna tells you, "What Ma’whar probably didn’t tell you is that mana from these leylines appears to be absorbable by corporeal bodies. Recently, we’ve discovered means for extracting this mana from the remains of those so touched and storing it in pyreal. Mind you that replicate readings are needed, but my initial calculations suggest that in sufficient quantity this mana holds enough energy to power our journey back to Ispar. Should you run across any of these mana-infused artifacts, bring them to me at once. I’ll be able to perform the initial transformation steps, but you will have to personally use the refiner to perform the final steps. I fear my hands have become too unsteady to be trusted around that cursed machine. Tread carefully, however, the purification process leaves the pyreal in an extremely volatile state and our refiners can only work safely so many times each week."

Ulewinna tells you, "Once the refinement process is complete, my apprentices will reimburse you for your troubles. Sora will take your refined pyreal while Rimgar will accept any pyreal the refiner was unable to process."

Ulewinna tells you, "There was one more thing I had meant to mention… curses on Asheron’s beard, what was it? Ah, yes! Platinum’s high melting temperature makes it an ideal liner for the insides of our refining machine - should you find any more Lucky Platinum Letters I will gladly pay you well for your excess."

Handing in quest items

Lucky Platinum Letter

You hand Ulewinna Lucky Platinum Letter

Ulewinna tells you, “Excellent. I will put this to use right away - but we are still in need of many more letters. Far too many machines in need of repair and far too little platinum.”

Ulewinna gives you a Volatile Pyreal.

You've earned 1,000 Luminance.
Virindi Jewels

You hand Ulewinna Black Spawn Gatekeeper's Jewel

Ulewinna tells you, “How fascinating - look at how the mana has sealed quite firmly into the cracks of the jewel. No worry, the extraction remains simple enough. First, A quick wash in aetherium solution, scented with hyssop to occlude the vapors of course and...the mana is released from the jewel. Now the extract is submerged in liquid pyreal to stabilize the mana into form and, voila, we are left with a highly efficient mana battery."

Ulewinna tells you, "A perfect looking specimen you might think! But wait, see how the mana is already beginning to corrode the pyreal here and here? If the refiner is not yet overheated, you should refine this now before any further decay occurs. Otherwise, speak with Rimgar to ensure proper compensation for the unrefined sample.”

Ulewinna gives you 5 Volatile Pyreals.

You've earned 5,000 Luminance.

You've earned 50,000,000 experience.
Virindi Essences

You hand Ulewinna Black Spawn Gatekeeper's Essence

Ulewinna tells you, "“Absolutely incredible! Put that under my lens quickly! Oh my, the sheer complexity of the mana calcification is exquisite...this Virindi essence and the mana have wound so tightly that they have become some sort of braid! I fear stock aetherium solution will not be sufficient to catalyze the reaction needed to release the mana. But maybe a more concentrated solution? If you would, please hand me that alembic. We will need it to stabilize the solvent if we are to add more aetheria. There, the solution seems stable but there is only way to know for sure...."

Ulewinna tells you, "My goodness, the yield is astounding. Sora! Bring me at least three more pyreal tanks to capture all this mana!"

Ulewinna tells you, "There, the extraction is complete. If the refiner is not yet over heated, I would purify these samples with all haste. Once done, speak with Sora. She will provide you with payment for the yield."

Ulewinna gives you 10 Volatile Pyreals.
Mana Siphon Readings

You hand Ulewinna Mana Siphon Readings

Ulewinna tells you, "A reading from the Black Spawn Den Leyline? Put it on my table so that I can inventory it immediately. If you would, please use the charcoal to inscribe PY24L5S1 on the metal bearings."

Ulewinna tells you, "Hmmm...these theodolite readings are quite strange. We’ve previously established that the leyline mana fields wax and wane at roughly 3 periods per second and at a phase unique from the other two siblings. According to these readings...the Wai Jhou leyline is oscillating at a speed nearly 100 times its normal frequency."

Ulewinna tells you, "While this might explain why the leyline is shedding so much mana, I’m at a loss for how this could be happening. The only other time I’ve ever seen something like this was when Aliester and I measured mana consumption from actively transporting portals. Portals can consume mana at very high frequencies, but only when bodies are in the process of passing through them. We never observed activity that lasted this long, however. Strange as it may sound, the only logical conclusion I can come to is that the mana signature you’ve brought me reflects a very powerful, yet unrecognizable, form of portal magic."

Ulewinna tells you, "I’ll need more data to be able to draw any firmer conclusions. If you can, please bring me another reading from this leyline. In the meantime, I will continue to consider what you have brought me. Before you go, please accept this as a token of my gratitude."

Ulewinna gives you a Legendary Key.
Glowing Pyreal Shard

You hand Ulewinna Glowing Pyreal Shard

Ulewinna tells you, "You said you got this off of the Virindi leader? That is fascinating...and troubling. The pyreal itself is considerably more dense than anything we are using. If my suspicions about this are correct, their mana harvesting abilities are at the very least 2-3 times more efficient than our own. Who knows what type of terrible experimental magic can be powered by such a battery?"

Ulewinna tells you, "If you will allow me, I would like to study this specimen at once. A deeper understanding of this Virindi construct will undoubtedly improve our own mana extraction and storage."

Ulewinna tells you, "Before you make a decision, however, I must ask: have you determined if your weapon reacts to this item? The other specimens we have recovered from the Virindi have shown strong reactivity to their weapons - I suspect something similar, and perhaps even more powerful, might occur with this pyreal shard."

Confirmation Dialog: "Would you like to turn in your Glowing Pyreal Shard for payment?”

Ulewinna tells you, "You made an invaluable contribution to the cause today, seeker. I believe we may be much, much closer to returning home than we’ve ever been. Now, if you would, please excuse me while I set to determining this shard’s chemical composition.”

Ulewinna gives you 50 Glowing Volatile Pyreals.
