While characters in Dereth are expected to find or purchase many of their possessions, they also have some simple gear when they arrive. In addition to clothing, food and money, they start their adventures with equipment corresponding to their skills.

Weapons: For each weapon skill he or she has, a character begins with a "practice weapon" appropriate to the character’s Heritage Group. Practice weapons are slower and less damaging than their ordinary counterparts.
