Can we get an explanation for armor's protection levels?

Question Title: Can we get an explanation for armor's protection levels?
Category: Items
Question: Can you please tell us the modifiers for each of the protection types: Poor, Below Average, Average (assumed 1.0), Above Average, Excellent, and Unparralled.

I would also like to know if after doing a bane and say an armor is now "excellent" vs an attack type, does that mean is has the exact "excellent" modifier? Or does it mean that something more like: excellent >= actual < unparralled?

Lastly, is unparralled the max modifier? Ex. does lightning bane 6 on a matty coat improve the matty's already unparralled protection? If so, what is the true maximum? (and what is the modifier that would occur in the example of the matty)

*Phew*

That was long.. but we all want to know the answers to these questions. =)

Answer: The descriptions map to the same set of modifiers, whether enchanted or not.

The mappings:
  • No protection: 0.0
  • Poor protection: 0.1 - 0.3
  • Below Average protection: 0.4 - 0.7
  • Average protection: 0.8 - 1.1
  • Above Average protection: 1.2 - 1.5
  • Excellent protection: 1.6 - 1.9
  • Unparalleled protection: 2.0

Take the AL of the armor and multiply it by the mod and you'll have your effective AL.
