Overview

An old quest added during the first event, the Sudden Season. Its rewards are only knowledge of the events of the past and those which were to come, the Fourth Sending of Darkness.

The Lightless Catacombs and Small Icecave were repopulated with stronger creatures in later events, and are thus more difficult. The Ancient Lighthouse and Disaster Maze may have the original creatures, but several monster rebalances may have made some more difficult. In addition, all dungeons are in areas that are not survivable for lower levels - the Dires and the Lost Wish Range. It is recommended you run this quest with a higher level character than it was initially designed for.

Portions of this quest require Lockpicking and keys.

Walkthrough & Notes

Ancient Lighthouse (18+)

Go to Fort Tethana.
Head North to 3.9N, 72.5W and take the portal to lighthouse to be transported atop the nearby mountain. Enter the Ancient Lighthouse.
Following the map, proceed to the lowest level of the dungeon.
Pick up the Dusty Volume, found in a small cell by a skeleton.
Bring the book to Bretself in Cragstone for translation.

Disaster Maze (20+)

Go to Wai Jhou.
Head northeast to the Disaster Maze at 61.3S, 50.9W.
Following the map, first collect the Silvery Key (lockpicking required), then proceed to the end, using the key to open a 1400 resistance door.
Pick up the Slimy Note in the Virindi Director's chambers.
Bring the note to Kuyiza bint Zayi in Zaikhal for translation.

Lightless Catacombs (14+)

Use a South Direlands Portal. An easy one to reach is located within the Wedding Hall, which you may reach by using the Invitation Wedding Hall sold at all Wedding Planners.
Head to the Lightless Catacombs at 82.3S, 35.2W.
Following the map, proceed to end of the dungeon (lockpicking required)
Pick up the Dark Note.
Bring the note to Fanzen San in Hebian-To for translation.

Small Icecave (1+)

Obtain a bowl of Carol's Carrot Soup.
Go to Bandit Castle, give Karwin, the Lunatic the soup to obtain Karwin's Key.
Head north of the castle to the Small Icecave at 67.5N, 50.3E.
Following the map, proceed to the end. Use Karwin's Key to open the door to the final room and pick up An Old Volume off the floor.
Optional: Pick up the Alloy Pinion, part of the Undead Mechanic quest.
Bring the book to Bretself in Cragstone for translation.
