Idle Dialog

Pierre says, "Hoy! Who are you!? It is rude to walk into a man's cabin without knocking. I could have been in a state of undress!"

Pierre says, "I would chase you back out into the snow if I..."

Pierre sighs heavily, and looks down at his legs.

Pierre says, "Ah, but what does it matter? Come and go as you like. If you are robbers, you are welcome to my meager possessions, for I can do little to stop you..."
Opening Dialog

Pierre tells you, "Gondo...Kei? Is that some kind of thieves passcode? Oh, it is the name of the woman who sent you. Well, I am certain this "Gondo Kei" makes a fine bandit queen, though I have doubts about the quality of her henchmen..."

Pierre tells you, "You take nothing, and yet you do not leave. So I must conclude you are the incompetent sort of thief. May I direct your attention to the pruning knife on the table? It has a fine edge, and could cut purse strings as well as mistletoe and ivy."

Pierre tells you, "In the cauldron outside is a precious balm that can seal a tree's wounds. Ah, but that would be worthless to any but a woodsman, and we are rarely wealthy men. Hmm."

Pierre tells you, "The book? It is finely made but sadly I have ruined the value by writing in it--the tale of how I came to be...as you see me now."

Pierre tells you, "No doubt you are as impatient as you are incompetent, and maybe illiterate to boot, so I will summarize: the great pine in the center of the grove is inhabited by a tree spirit who I worship and adore. A krampus came to cut her down, and when I tried to stop him he cut off my legs instead."

Pierre tells you, "For now the beast is content to watch and wait, delighting in my misery. At times he sends his progeny to harrass us--I chase them off with a barrage of snowballs when I have the strength to hobble out to the grove."

Pierre tells you, "But someday soon the Krampus himself will return to chop down the mother pine and end my life. So you had better rob me quickly and leave while you still can."
