Asheron’s Call 2 has returned! We have opened up a new server for anyone who has an active Asheron’s Call subscription to play Asheron’s Call 2 for free! Although we would have loved to revisit some of our old characters with you, we were not able to bring over any of your old characters. We do, however, present this new Asheron’s Call 2 server, Dawnsong, to all active Asheron’s Call players with a paid subscription or who purchase an ACTD retail key and subscribe.

Recently, we were made aware of an issue with the security of our LOTRO community web applications. We take all potential issues seriously and as a precaution we took all of our forums offline while we investigated and resolved the issue. The forums are now open for normal use.
Please note that we will continue to perform maintenance on our community websites over the coming days and some features may be unavailable from time to time. Game services are not impacted and will continue to operate on a normal schedule.

Layoffs at Turbine - Link
"As part of the continual review of our business operations and fluctuating market conditions, we have had to make reductions in our Turbine workforce," Remi Sklar, spokeswoman for Warner Bros. Entertainment Group, said in an e-mail to The Boston Globe.
It is unknown at this point if anyone from the Asheron's Call staff was let go.

February Update: Buff One Thing Link
We are already working on our big February update and we are looking for feedback from players on skills, abilities and aspects of the game that they feel are under performing and could use a buff. Ideally the buff would be something small that could be developed with a day of dev's time.
The rules:
~ Your suggestion should take no more than a day of dev's time. We won't be able to implement suggestions that take a month or more. (Weapon auras I am looking at you.)

Water of Stasis and Weapon Auras feedback Link
In order to finish up weapon auras we are considering doing away with Water of Stasis. Weapon auras completely break weapons with Water of Stasis. The plan would be that this effect is removed from all loot weapons by the patch and can no longer be applied to melee and missile weapons....
We wanted feedback from the PvP community on this change.

I would expect carnage to appear on some servers in the form of live events.
Thistledown, Frostfell, Solclaim, Leafcull. Not for the faint of heart. Certain recently deceased personages might be taking their rage out on Dereth. I'll start Thursday night and continue Saturday afternoon. Times subject to change, I might have to bump Saturday to Sunday depending on the weather. I apologize in advance, long story.

One of the aspects to August we want to do is spend some time revamping older content to make it more fun. We receive a lot of small quest improvement requests, so we want players to suggest three quest improvements to older quests that they would like to see implemented for the August update.

Make sure you head on over to Leaderboard and vote for AC.
Back at the turn of the century, you didn't have the equivalent of cable's infinite choices when it came to MMOs. No, you pretty much had the standard Big Three of network programming: Ultima Online, EverQuest, and Asheron's Call. With the subscription model firmly in place, most players had to choose their loyalty and choose it well.

The Lugians are Coming! - Link
Kintani: I’ve been working on the Lugian player race, which has proven to be an interesting challenge as this is the first player race where I’ve had to make new versions of all of the clothing and armor in game. I’m working to preserve the look of the armors, even though the Lugians have a much larger frame, so the looks people have come to know and love transition over onto the Lugians in the ways they’d expect.

Authentication Maintenance 3/14/12 7am - 10am Eastern - Link
On Wednesday March 14th the Asheron's Call authentication servers and https://myaccount.turbine.com/ will be down for maintenance from 7am - 10 am Eastern. During this time players will not be able to log into the game or update their billing information, but players already in the game should not be impacted.

Scheduled Server Downtime 2/23/12 8am - 10am Eastern (-5 GMT) - Link
The Game servers will be down on Thursday February 23rd from 8am - 10am Eastern. Below is the list if things that are being addressed during the downtime.

  • Weapons that exceed maximums for their wield requirements, tinkering, and modifications have had their damage adjusted.
  • Alchemy phials now properly buff the Missile Weapons skill instead of the thrown weapons skill.
  • Fixed some Missile weapons with broken wield requirements.
  • Wield requirements for some quest shields have been reduced.
  • Fixed activation requirements on some quest weapons and armor.
