I understand weakness. When a man is unable to defend himself against a more powerful foe, that man should feel no shame in suffering defeat at the hands of that foe. However, he should accept that defeat with dignity - head held high, as Karlun teaches us. Any man who does not meet his defeat in this manner is no true Viamontian. Lorca Sammel, though his skin be of the same hue as mine own, is among the most cowardly men I could ever hope to know.
His presence here in Sanamar is a shame to all who are forced to look upon him. Yes, the flightless birds stole his necklace, but that is no reason to weep like an Aluvian babe.
If you find this note, do this city a favor and aid the coward Lorca Sammel. Perhaps your assistance will put an end to his tireless blubbering. You may find the wretch near the statue of our great King.
