- Archmages sell spell components, magic items, mana stones and alchemical items. Sometimes they sell spell component peas, portal gems, clothing (robes), dispell services and miscellaneous stuff such as the Splitting Tool.
- Named Archmages can be found in the major towns. Nameless archmages can be found all over Dereth, in towns or in the outskirts/wilderness. The majority of mages, both in towns and in the wilderness, sell scarabs up to level 4. However, the scarabs needed for more powerful spells are only sold by the the Master Archmages and a certain number of standard archmages.
- Master Archmages sell all magic components up to level 7, and very specific magic goods, such as Master Robes and town portal gems including some unique ones. See the Mastermage page for a list of these mages and their wares.

The following archmages do not sell Scarabs other than lead nor do they sell standard tapers.
Notes
- Silencia the Archmage, 64.9N 13.5E in Crater Lake Village does not only sell the usual magic items, but also the glyphs associated with Isparian Weapons and Atlan Weapons.
- In Hollow Victory, all Master Mages and certain archmages began selling the new spell component peas. In addition, dispel services were introduced.
- In Now In This Hush, all named archmages and the unnamed archmages found in the wilderness and town outskirts were updated and now sell tapers; lead, iron, copper, and silver scarabs; and all trade notes at a minimum. In addition, master mages and select archmages also started selling town Portal Gems and Platinum Scarabs.
