Overview
Differs from Retail: A Braced Mana Forge Key is rewarded when you hand Progenitor Ingot to Shade of Ja'qu.
This quest is a series of dungeons of increasing difficulty to collect special trophies at the end of each one.
Walkthrough & Notes
Crystalline Shards
- Kill various wisps throughout the Crystalline Crag and its dungeons.
- Wisps will randomly drop a yellow-colored Crystalline Shard.
- Hand them to Tokashi Ando for 50,000 xp each.
- Note: Unlike with the other shards, there is no pickup timer and they are giveable. Any character of level 50+ can hand them in for the xp reward.
Rare Crystalline Shards
- On the Crag, and inside the dungeon, there are randomly spawning Crystals. Use the crystal to spawn a pack of various Crystalline Wisps.
- Once you've killed the spawn, open their corpses for Rare Crystalline Shards. Each Crystalline Wisp spawned by the Crystal will hold one Rare Shard (as well as a chance at a regular Crystalline Shard).
- Once you collect 10 Rare Shards, return them to Tokashi Ando for your reward.
Crystalline Dungeon (70+)
- Enter the Crystalline Portal dungeon at 17.0S 61.2W.
- Once inside, find and kill an Aggregate Crystalline Wisp.
- There are various spawns of them around the dungeon, but you will find 2 near the portal at the end of the dungeon.
- Loot an Aggregate Crystalline Shard from its corpse.
Icy Crystalline Dungeon (90+)
- Enter the Crystalline Portal at the bottom of the 70+ Crystalline Portal dungeon.
- Once inside, find and kill an Intense Aggregate Crystalline Wisp.
- There is a room with many of them near one of the crystals for the Marker Crystals quest. There are also many in the honeycomb section near the portal at the end of the dungeon.
- Loot a Large Aggregate Crystalline Shard from its corpse.
Fiery Crystalline Dungeon (110+)
- Enter the Crystalline Portal at the bottom of the 90+ Crystalline Portal dungeon.
- Once inside, find and kill an Intense Aggregate Crystalline Wisp.
- They spawn primarily in the final magma-floored rooms before the portal at the end.
- Loot a Giant Aggregate Crystalline Shard from its corpse.
Progenitors' Lair (130+)
- Enter the Crystalline Portal at the bottom of the 110+ Crystalline Portal dungeon.
- Run up the ramp into the large room at the top.
- Speak to the Shade of Ja'qu located in the center of the dungeon.
- He will give you two kill tasks. You must complete both of these tasks in order to access the Progenitors above.
- Hit the two levers in the room with the Shade of Ja'qu.
- Enter one of the doors that opened to the North or South. Either door is fine; the primary difference is the South hallways lead toward Acid/Fire Wisps and the North hallways lead toward Frost/Lightning Wisps. Kill all the wisps along the way to complete the kill tasks.
- Go up a couple levels until you find a room with two kinds of wisps (either Acid/Fire or Frost/Lightning) and a lever door in the middle of the wall in front of you with two hallways on either side of it.
- Go through one of the hallways and use the lever you find at the end right before the bridge.
- Go back to the room with the lever door and go through the other open hallway until you find another lever. Use the lever and return to the lever door which should now be completely open.
- Go through and use the lever on the other side of the door. That lever will open up the doors to 3 of the Progenitors you need to kill.
- Note: You must have completed the kill task assigned by Ja'qu to activate the levers (25 Acid/Fire Wisps or 25 Frost/Lightning Wisps). The kill task needed corresponds to the wisps in the lever room.
- If you have completed the task the lever will say: ":The lever responds to your touch.".
- Kill the 3 Progenitors you can now access and loot their Progenitor Crystals:
- Acidic Progenitor Crystal
- Burning Progenitor Crystal
- Chilling Progenitor Crystal
- Run back down one level the way you came and make a circle around until you find another way up that will bring you to a similar room with the other two kinds of elemental wisps and a lever door. Activate all three levers as you did in the previous room to access the 3 other Progenitors.
- Lightning Progenitor Crystal
- Shadow Progenitor Crystal
- Prismatic Progenitor Crystal
- Note: On return trips, or if you have already finished both Intense Wisp kill tasks, you can run to the top and jump around the bridges to access the levers directly to the Progenitors to avoid running through each side for full access. This requires a minor degree of jumping prowess, however.
- Combine the Shadow Progenitor Crystal with the Prismatic Progenitor Crystal to create Force Progenitor Crystal.
- Combine the Burning Progenitor Crystal with the Chilling Progenitor Crystal to create Combined Thermal Progenitor Crystal.
- Combine the the Lightning Progenitor Crystal with the Acidic Progenitor Crystal to create Combined Alkalemic Progenitor Crystal.
- Combine the Combined Alkalemic Progenitor Crystal with the Combined Thermal Progenitor Crystal to create .Elemental Progenitor Crystal.
- Finally, combine the Force Progenitor Crystal with the Elemental Progenitor Crystal to create the Progenitor Ingot.
- Hand the ingot to Ja'qu for your rewards. Once you hand in the Ingot, you will be able to use the lever in front of the door east of Ja'qu.
Crater and Facility
- In the Progenitors' Lair, head through the door that the newly-available lever opens and head through into the crater above.
- Enter the Facility through the tunnel in the ground opposite where you exited the Progenitors' Lair.
- Open the Essence Locks in the Facility. The locks can be found beyond locked doors that can be unlocked using various keys in the dungeon. (See Marker Crystals for full details)
- Eastern Gate Key
- Southern Gate Key
- Western Gate Key
- Northern Gate Key
- You will need to activate all 4 Essence Locks per kill of the Array. Be prepared to run back through the dungeon if you have a group of more than 4.
- Use the Essence Lock in the Crater to spawn a Crystalline Essence Array.
- The Array spawns with 6 Crystalline Array Satellites and many, many Crystalline Wisps.
- The Array has huge health but has no regen. However, the Wisps that spawn heal it extremely quickly. The Wisps are linked to the Satellites and will die if the Satellites are killed.
- The best route is to kill the Satellites first. Archers can go full speed on whatever they attack. You will have about 60–90 seconds before the Satellites respawn. It is best to use a high-quality bow regardless of your character type, mainly because of attack speed.
- The Array is extremely difficult, if not impossible to destroy alone unless you kill the Satellites before focusing on the Array itself.
- Once the Array is dead, loot the Crystalline Array Fragment from the ground (4 drop per kill).
- You can now run up the hill on the north side of the crater to up get to the rim and jump off, allowing you to run back to the Resonant Portal to the east instead of a lengthier run back.

- Shade of Ja'qu tells you, "I, in death, remain here, trapped. You need not remain. You must release the essences of the frost and fire. An aura of this essence will allow access to the progenitor chambers of frost, lightning and prismatic."
- Shade of Ja'qu tells you, "The essences of acid and electric, release them to become free... unlike me. An aura of this essence will allow you to use the lever to access the progenitor chambers of fire, acid and shadow."
