The Principles of Chiran Jou Gai, the Order of the Unicorn Temple

From 11-20-2001

Here in our great exile upon Dereth, we must not let the Honor of the Chiran Jou Gai be lost! Here, in our exile from the Unicorn Temple, we must continue to hold true to the principle of Grace that is our last tie to Heaven. Even as the great people of the Sho continue to build up and grow, this principle must guide us, or we shall stumble and our works shall be rendered to naught.

Remember always:

Without compassion, an empire of ten thousand years yields nothing but dust that is lost and forgotten.

With compassion, an empire of ten thousand years even lights up the far edge of eternity.

And remember always:

To the Unicorn Chiran was given Grace: the grace of compassion, healing, rescue, and gentleness.

So remember! Let not hatred, prejudice, anger, greed, or cruelty affect you. Treat all impartially. Remember compassion as the highest path. Thus, any merciful, kind person of exceptional magical or non-magical healing talent may join the Chiran Jou Gai. Any who disappoint the standards of the Unicorn should be swiftly removed, lest the pure image of Grace be blemished so much that people in need fear to come to us. Yet even the traitors, if they repent, should be treated with forgiveness and allowed back into the great Order. For we follow the path of Chiran, the Unicorn of Grace, and we should follow that high model of compassion and mercy.

So remember! It is your task to have compassion on the less fortunate, to heal the injured, to be the shining lights of Grace that remind the world that higher principles hold sway. For we follow the path of Chiran, the Unicorn of Grace, and the world must not forget that mere power-seeking and splendor-seeking will never lead anywhere by themselves.

So remember! Our light shines so clearly because we are surrounded by darkness. Remember your duty to yourself, though it may be lower than your duty to others: Strive always to be strong and able to stand on your own. For unless you can stand by yourself, you shall become a drain upon others instead of a blessing. But do not fear! We follow the path of Chiran, the Unicorn of Grace, and kindness is a more powerful weapon than even the sword.
